How this calculator works

Divide the salary by the number of hours it pays for in a year.

Hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year)

A standard full-time year is 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours. If you regularly work more than your scheduled hours, add your real weekly hours under More options to see your effective hourly rate.

Example

A $60,000 salary at 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is $60,000 ÷ 2,080 = $28.85 an hour. If that job really takes 50 hours a week, the effective rate falls to $60,000 ÷ 2,600 = $23.08 an hour.
