How this calculator works
The converter changes the amount into a base unit (meters, kilograms, liters, square meters, or meters per second) and then into the unit you want, using exact conversion factors. For example, one inch is exactly 2.54 centimeters, and one pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms.
