How this calculator works

Pick a book to see where it sits in the Bible, the section it's traditionally grouped with, and how many chapters it has. The reading-time line divides the chapters by your daily pace.

Sections follow a common Protestant arrangement: Law, History, Poetry and Wisdom, Major Prophets, and Minor Prophets in the Old Testament; Gospels, History, Paul's Letters, General Letters, and Prophecy in the New Testament. Other traditions group some books differently. Hebrews, for example, is sometimes listed with Paul's letters.

Example

Romans is the 45th book, the first of Paul's letters in the New Testament, with 16 chapters. At 3 chapters a day, you'd finish it in 6 days.
